- Eat a healthy balanced diet to nourish your skin (you can read about The Bridal Nutrition Survival Guide here). If you have skin problems such as breakouts, rosacea, acne vulgaris, eczema or psoriasis you may like to have a specific dietary plan and supplements in place. Speak to a nutritionist about this. A probiotic and Vida Glow marine collagen are both a great start for improving skin health.
- Hydration is absolutely essential. Drink 2L daily and replace fluids lost from drinking tea, coffee, alcohol and excessive sweating. You can read more about skin hydration here.
- Have a daily skincare routine. It's important to cleanse the skin morning and night with a soap free cleanser to remove excess dirt, makeup and oils. Massage the cleanser into the skin using circular motions and wipe off using a clean luke warm muslin cloth. I find the muslin cloth acts as a light exfoliant to remove dead skin cells and even out skin tone. Toning will help to reduce pore size. Finding the right moisturiser for your skin type is essential. Use sparing amounts of a cold pressed jojoba oil as a moisturiser which works well for most skin types as it is the closest thing to the skins natural sebum. As a blemish spot treatment, I recommend using Malin + Goetz or suedocrem (nappy rash cream) as it is high in zinc.
- Use a daytime 30+ sunscreen to reduce pigmentation and sun damage. I like the Cetaphil or Ultraceauticals brands otherwise a foundation with a SPF factor will work. A tomato juice daily will give you added sun protection, because it's high concentration of the antioxidant lycopene. Bring on the Virgin Bloody Mary's!
