What is Your Body Trying to Tell You? And more importantly, are you listening?

Every moment of our day is becoming increasingly occupied, there is always something to watch, read or download and it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle. But as we put more and more energy in our external environment, we can sometimes lose touch with what’s going on internally.

Although you may not be fully aware of it, your body is constantly sending you messages and telling you how it’s feeling. If you are experiencing high stress, your body is likely feeling strain and communicating this to you, whether it’s physically, mentally or emotionally.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it may be a signal that your body is overstressed and not coping:

Muscle Soreness

Using your muscles in new ways can lead to microscopic damage which causes muscle soreness. This isn’t a sign to give up on your exercise routine, instead provide your muscles with energy that will assist them to repair and recover

Trouble Sleeping

Around 1 in 3 adults have trouble sleeping and reportedly suffer from mild insomnia. Steer clear of caffeine at night and reduce screen time and bright lights an hour before you go to bed

While we’re big believers in exercise (it’s not only good for the body, but great for the mind) it can put significant stress on your body. Find ways to help your body destress and return to a more relaxed state

Mood Swings

Feelings of anger, anxiety, depression and irritability are common when you are physically and mentally stressed. Make self-care a priority and give yourself the time to relax where you won’t be disturbed

Struggle Concentrating

Brain fog, a short attention span and forgetfulness are signs of stress and anxiety. Try to reduce the mental load best you can and focus on your personal health and wellbeing
