Nourish Your Hair

Aside from my daily Vida Glow, my hair care consists of 4 other things…

Vitamin C, Protein, Good Fats and Hello Hair

Vitamin C

Whilst I was researching marine collagen to develop Vida Glow, I fell in love with Vitamin C. Vitamin C is a SUPER Vitamin for Hair, Skin and Nails, as it assists the body in forming collagen. It also helps the body absorb collagen supplementation such as Vida Glow. My favourite Vida Glow is the Original, I have sachets in my handbags at all times and have a 3g scoop of the Loose Powder morning and night – unlike our flavoured blends, the original does not come with added Vitamin C – so I take a Vitamin C tablet daily (1000mg). Vitamin C is one of the most effective nutrients to help grow and strengthen hair, it promotes nail growth and wards off the signs of ageing. The best natural sources of Vitamin C are blackcurrants, blueberries, broccoli, guava, kiwi fruits, oranges, papaya, strawberries and sweet potatoes. Vitamin C helps in the production of collagen that strengthens the capillaries that supply the hair shafts.

Hair is made of protein, so ensuring you have enough protein in your diet is crucial for healthy and strong hair. If you’re not consuming enough protein in your diet, your hair will become dry, brittle and weak. Choose organic chicken, dairy products and eggs. Fish and Vida Glow marine collagen are also excellent sources of protein. Vegetarian options include legumes and nuts.

Good Fats

Omega – 3 fatty acids are important fats our body cannot make itself, and so needs to be gained through our diet. Omega – 3s are found in the cells that line the scalp and also provide the oils that keep our scalp and hair hydrated. The best sources of Omega – 3s are avocados, pumpkin seeds, walnuts and oily fish (salmon, herring, sardines, trout and mackerel).

Hello Hair

I’ve been using these products for over a year now and I’m super impressed with how lush and shiny my hair feels after a treatment. The Hydrating Mask is my go to weekly favourite, using all natural ingredients, the richness of coconut oil, argan oil, olive oil, almond oil, olive leaf extract and castor oil really soaks into individual hair strands and delivers hydration and nutrients to my hair. One 100g sachet lasts for ages! I use a Hello Hair mask twice a week using a small amount on the ends, leaving it it for 10 – 15 minutes – then massaging it into the scalp before washing it off. My hair is naturally oily at the roots and dry at the ends, so this way suits me best.

I’ve recently tried their Botanic Edition which comes with added Lavender and Rosemary oil. I’m a big believer in the calming and de-stressing effects of Lavender – so this mask is a real treat after a busy/stressful day.

The Island Escape Edition is my post – beach mask. I’ve been enjoying the beach every day thanks to a glorious Sydney Summer. So every Sunday night I’ve been using this mask on my hair, and even a little over my face and body. The pomegranate seed oil and scents of lime, grapefruit, vanilla and coconut are really nourishing to hair and skin. I find it helps to moisturise and hydrate my hair and skin post sun, and lessens the damaging effects of UV rays.

Whichever Hello Hair edition you pick; you’ll love it!

Healthy, shiny, well-moisturised hair can be difficult to achieve if you don’t take proper care of your hair. Many common factors and daily activities can contribute to dull, dry hair. Poor diet, sun exposure, chlorine from swimming, chemical processing, blow drying, straightening irons and curling wands all take a toll on hair’s moisture balance. Taking care of your hair with the tips above will help restore hydration, lustre and shine to your locks – as well as prevent spilt ends and breakage.

If you’re already getting the amazing benefits of our marine collagen, I suggest adding our Beauty Blend to your beauty regime. The Beauty Blend is full of good fats, protein and vitamin C and is a nutritious and delicious addition to your diet and compliments your hair care.
