Collagen is a unique protein and the building material to renew cells in all areas of the body, including: the hair, skin, nails, eyes, teeth, cartilage, bones, tendons, organs, arteries, blood vessels, haemoglobin, immune cells and the immune system.
Collagen is responsible for 80% of all connective tissues and up to 75% of the skin.
Collagen production slows down as we age. The ageing process is accelerated after age 30 when we begin to lose approximately 2% of our natural collagen stores each year. By age 40 when most people begin to notice hormonal changes, our bodies has already lost approximately 15% or more of its natural collagen.
A recent Japanese study which was published in 2015, researched the effects of ingestion of collagen on human immunity.
The immune system defends the body against infections by pathogenic organisms, the invasion of foreign toxic antigens, and the growth of malignant cells. Immune competence decreases with age and stress, and malnutrition also causes the immune functions to deteriorate. Many food components, including gallate in green tea, probiotics and vitamins, modulate the immune functions.
In this study, a placebo, controlled double and blind trial was conducted to investigate the effects of ingested fish derived collagen peptide on the human immunological status by measuring the SIV (Scoring of Immunological Vigor) score and other immunological, physical, biochemical, and subjective symptom parameters.
Trialing healthy Japanese men and women aged between 30 and 59 years with daily tiredness and fatigue and with a relatively low SIV. The trial revealed that the ingestion of 9g of collagen over an 8-week period significantly improved the comprehensive immunological status of humans. This suggests the possibility that adaptive immunity was improved by supplemental ingestion of collagen, through a daily collagen supplement, such as Vida Glow. The improvement on immune health of those participants consuming a collagen supplement did not occur in the group taking a placebo supplement. These results suggest that the improvements caused by collagen ingestion are subjectively recognised by humans with daily tiredness and fatigue. This may explain why many of our customers report newfound energy and improved sleep since starting collagen supplementation with Vida Glow.
As our immune competence decreases with age and stress, the supplemental ingestion of collagen, through Vida Glow, should benefit elderly people as well as those suffering from stress by improving their immune status. We live in a busy and stressful world, we’re all on our phones, checking emails, working late, doing hard training session and being exposed to toxins. It’s no wonder we’re such a highly stressed society. Vida Glow is the perfect addition to your busy lifestyle, and it’s easy to include into your day. Simply keep a sachet on your desk, in your handbag or gym bag and give yourself a little extra “LIFE” glow.
One of the benefits of taking a daily collagen supplement is the ability to better manage stress!
It’s important to note that malnutrition also causes the immune functions to deteriorate, which is why eating a balanced diet, rich in whole, fresh foods is imperative for our health and wellbeing.
